Installation

macOS

  1. Download alfons for macOS alfons.app/en/download
  2. Double-click the image file alfons.dmg to open it.
  3. Copy the contents of the image file, i.e., the alfons folder, to Applications.

On newer versions of macOS, additional security warnings may be displayed. The following steps are then required only once to grant alfons the necessary permissions:

  1. If this message appears, click Cancel:
  2. Please open System Preferences and go to Security & Privacy. Click the small lock icon in the bottom left corner:
  3. You will be asked for your password (Touch ID will also work if set up):
  4. The lock icon is now open, and in the following message, click "Open":
  5. ...and here, click OK one last time.
  6. In the following dialog, please select alfons 2 b11.alf. alfons will now start.

Windows

  1. Download alfons for Windows download

  2. Start the installation program alfonssetup.exe

  3. Windows 10 makes it particularly interesting and initially presents some warnings. (alfons is not yet certified as an official developer by Microsoft, but this poses no risk to you.)

  4. Please follow the instructions and click on "More information":

  1. Then click on "Run anyway":
  1. Click Yes again:
  1. In this dialog box, click OK:
  1. If you wish, you can create a desktop icon for alfons here; otherwise, simply click "Next":
  1. Install and you're ready to go:
  1. The installation is complete; simply click Finish:
